The Body Burn Workout
Developed by Sebastien Lagree, the Megaformer™ is a zero impact machine that allows you to work your body in a unique and intense way. A system of springs and pulleys, combined with block training routines, allows you to work your upper and lower body to the point of fatigue.
SLOW & STEADY MOVEMENTS
Throughout the 50-minute workout, we will challenge you to move slowly, to hold and pulse muscle contractions. The slower and more controlled the movements are, the more effort that is required of your body in both directions. While concentric (shortening; contracting) movements are important, the eccentric (lengthening) movement requires just as much control.
SLOW TWITCH MUSCLE FIBERS
The workout focuses on activating smaller muscles and their slow twitch muscle fibers. Strengthening slow twitch muscle fibers increases endurance, and the slower we move them, the longer and leaner the muscles will become. We will work these muscles slowly and to the point of fatigue in order to achieve long, lean muscle development.
Throughout the workout, we will push you to transition as quickly as possible. The goal here is twofold. First, by moving quickly you will keep your heart rate elevated and your body in a fat-burning zone. Second, the quicker you transition to the next movement, the less rest time you give a muscle, therefore achieving the moment of fatigue that much faster. Time under tension is the name of our game.
